For the museum ‘The Story of Gardening’ at The Newt in Somerset, England, BIND, in collaboration with Kossmanndejong, who served as the lead designer for the project, developed and executed a series of unique audiovisual productions.

Gardens are timeless and found in all cultures, and every garden tells its own story. The museum in Somerset, part of The Newt estate, is an exploration of different gardens, showcasing everything that has been learned about gardening through the ages. It is an exhibition filled with stories of power and ideals, faith and love, ecology and nature. In the museum, visitors can take a VR journey through four remarkable gardens around the world: the Monet Garden in Giverny, the Tivoli Gardens near Rome, the gardens of Babylonstoren in South Africa, and the gardens surrounding the estate itself in Somerset.

Together with Alex Pitstra, a projection mapping production was designed about the role of the atmosphere, and with Henk van Engelen, the sound design was created, including an audio tour in seven languages.

The Story of Gardening has been open to the public since October 2020.
