On the Second Maasvlakte in Rotterdam, a new building has risen: Portlantis. In this state-of-the-art visitor centre, the Port of Rotterdam reveals its secrets. Here you get to know one of Europe’s most important logistical hubs as a gigantic complex and dynamic industrial universe that is continuously focused on improving efficiency and sustainability. You discover how the port works, what its impact is on the economy and the environment, and what challenges it faces in becoming future-proof.

Portlantis is a project by Port of Rotterdam Authority and EIC Mainport Rotterdam. Piet-Harm Sterk was involved on behalf of BIND from the earliest ideas as Creative Director, and was thereby responsible for both content and creative direction. The eye-catching building was designed by a team led by Winy Maas of the renowned architecture firm MVRDV. Design agency Kossmanndejong was responsible for the design of the various exhibitions. Bruns B.V., in turn, took care of the exhibition build.

Portlantis has been open to the public since March 2025
