The new lion enclosure – ARTIS

For the new lion enclosure at ARTIS Amsterdam, BIND developed and produced two unique films, which are now part of a permanent exhibition within the enclosure.

The new lion enclosure at ARTIS, the zoo in Amsterdam, is an impressive and modern space specifically designed to enhance both the animals’ welfare and the visitors’ experience. Opened in 2023, the new enclosure provides the lions with a larger, more natural environment that better meets their needs. The enclosure is significantly bigger than before and offers the animals a variety of surfaces, such as grass, sand, and rocks, encouraging their natural behaviors.

The design of the new enclosure ensures that the lions can retreat to quiet areas, while visitors, through glass walls and elevated viewpoints, can enjoy a unique perspective into the lives of these majestic creatures.

The new lion enclosure has been open to the public since 2023.
